SIXSPACE INFO

sixspace is a contemporary art gallery that opened in Chicago (1998) and relocated to Los Angeles in the fall of 2002. Housed in a former textile warehouse, the beautiful 2000 square foot gallery provides an environment unlike any other in Los Angeles and has become one of the most forward-thinking galleries in the United States. The gallery showcases artists who lean toward the underground, pushing boundaries, and breaking the mold -- in other words, artists whose aesthetic is the future face of the art world. In the past year this included Glen E. Friedman, Shag, Raymond Pettibon, Camille Rose Garcia, and The Clayton Brothers among others. Recently the gallery hosted Shepard Fairey’s most notable exhibition to date which brought in more than 4,000 people, and a benefit exhibition for the West Memphis Three, hosted by Winona Ryder and attended by more than 5,000 people opening night alone.

Articles on the gallery, exhibitions, and artists have been featured in Los Angeles Times, LA Weekly Flaunt Magazine, Wired, New York Post, MTV.com, Los Angeles Downtown News, Anthem Magazine, Pasadena Weekly, XLR8R Magazine, Los Angeles Daily Journal, Long Beach Press Telegram, Juxtapoz Magazine, Thrasher Magazine, People, US Weekly, Arkansas Times and artnet.com.
